Думи мої, думи мої (WIP)

The project idea is a short documentary based in Ukraine. The film is structured around a Ukrainian poem by Taras Shevchenko, and I have obtained the rights to music by Lastiwka, a Ukrainian folk choir that sings one of his poems in a powerful way. This is followed by interviews from Kiev and Lviv, which delve into ethical tourism, local tourism industries, and the safety of visiting Ukraine as a tourist during the war. I have already been in contact with a high-ranking figure in the tourism industry, Anton Taranenko, regarding a possible interview. I would also like to interview my former professor at Lund University, Niklas Bernsand, who is also an expert on Ukraine. He has traveled actively to Ukraine during the war and has an interesting perspective on the whole situation. The idea is that the film will be around 10-12 minutes long, depending on the material I receive. It will be more individualistic and try to focus on the people rather than providing a societal perspective. That is why it is important that it is made on location and that I meet many people during my filming days. I have interviews lined up, but I also expect more opportunities to arise on location. The main idea is to try to portray a different Ukraine than the one we see in the media, to try to find the beauty and not have a war perspective on the country, as is so often the case. After all, it is only a small part of the country that is affected by war, but a large part that is still beautiful to visit.
